At least 70 percent of water supply to Karachi was disrupted as the main 84-inch diameter water supply line burst again on Saturday.
The water supply line burst again near the Karachi University during work on the BRT Red Line. This is the second time in the last 15 days that the water supply line has been damaged at the point where work is in progress on the BRT Red Line.
As a result of damage to the water supply line, Karachi will face a water shortage of 250 million gallons per day.
As the crisis has intensified in the city, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has taken a strong exception to the negligence of the contractors working on the BRT Red Line. The board has written a letter to the Trans Karachi CEO and demanded a compensation of Rs35 million.
