The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has completed three hydropower projects totaling 63 megawatts (MW), which are expected to generate annual revenue of Rs 4.4 billion for the province, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to officials, the progress was highlighted during a review meeting chaired by the Secretary of Energy and Power, Nisar Ahmed, at the PESCO (PEDO) headquarters.
Chief Executive of PEDO, Habibullah Shah, briefed the meeting, reporting that three major projects, Koto Dir (40.8 MW), Korra Shangla (11.8 MW), and Jaboori Mansehra (10.2 MW) have been completed this year.
In addition, updates were provided on other ongoing hydropower projects, including Balakot Mansehra (300 MW), Madain Swat (157 MW), Gabral Kalam (88 MW), Mitaltan Swat (84 MW), Lawi Chitral (69 MW), and Mujahideen Power Project Torghar (6.9 MW).
Secretary Nisar Ahmed expressed strong dissatisfaction with the slow progress on three flagship projects in the Swat district, which are expected to generate 330 MW within the next two years.
He warned project directors to complete these projects within the stipulated deadlines, stating that any further delays would be intolerable.
The meeting also highlighted the 40-kilometer, 132/220kV transmission line from Mitaltan to Madain, which was described as a high-priority project to be completed within the next year’s timeframe.
