Lahore has once again emerged as one of the world’s most polluted cities, ranking second globally as air quality deteriorated sharply across the provincial capital, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to the latest air quality data, Lahore recorded an alarming Air Quality Index (AQI) level of 362, placing the city among the most hazardous urban centers worldwide.
The situation has also raised serious health concerns for residents.
Several areas of the city reported dangerously high pollution levels.
The worst conditions were observed in Allama Iqbal Town, where the AQI soared to an alarming 732, indicating extremely hazardous air quality.
Other heavily affected areas included the CERP Office area with an AQI of 549, Bedian Road at 386, Barki Road at 372, and B-Block Phase Five at 360.
The sharp rise in pollution levels has heightened concerns among health experts, who have warned that prolonged exposure to such toxic air can lead to serious respiratory and cardiovascular complications, particularly among children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions.
Medical specialists and environmental experts have strongly advised citizens to limit outdoor activities and use protective face masks when stepping outside to reduce the harmful effects of polluted air.
