A police encounter in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday resulted in the deaths of five armed dacoits following a heavy exchange of fire, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
The suspects were travelling on a motorcycle and in a car when police attempted to stop them near Shah Garh, within the jurisdiction of Kot Samba Police Station.
According to officials, the dacoits opened fire on the police team upon receiving the stop signal, prompting an intense firefight. Police said the deceased were fleeing after committing a robbery.
Law enforcement authorities recovered a vehicle, snatched cash, and weapons from the suspects.
District Police Officer Irfan Ali Samoon lauded the police team for their outstanding performance in successfully neutralising the threat.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts by the police in Rahim Yar Khan to curb armed robbery and maintain public safety in the region.
