Zainab Khan created history by winning a gold medal at the 5th Kyokushin World Karate Championship, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, becoming the first Pakistani woman to achieve this feat in full-contact karate, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
Zainab, who represents the Inam Kyokushin Karate Academy, delivered an outstanding performance against elite international competitors to secure the top podium position.
The championship featured 750 fighters from 40 countries, highlighting the significance of her achievement on the global stage.
Pakistan fielded an 18-member team at the prestigious event, which also produced other notable successes.
Sanaullah Khan clinched the silver medal in the men’s senior 80kg category, while Saifullah Khan earned a bronze medal in the 80kg-plus weight division.
All three medalists belong to the family of late Inamullah Khan, the founder of Pakistan Kyokushin Karate.
Zainab Khan’s historic victory has been widely hailed as a landmark moment for women’s sports and martial arts in Pakistan.
