In a knife-edge competition for the election of Dera Ismail Khan, PTI candidate Umar Amin Gandapur emerged victorious after inflicting defeat on JUI-F candidate Muhammad Kafeel Ahmad and PPP’s Faisal Karim Kundi with a heavy margin, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to unofficial results of all 296 polling stations, Umar Amin Gandapur secured 63,753 votes while his runner-up JUI-F’s Mohammad Kafeel Ahmed bagged 38,891 votes. While, PPP’s Faisal Kundi could get 32,788 votes.
Umar Amin Gandapur who is brother of PTI MNA Ali Amin Gandapur was declared disqualified by the Election Commission but the Islamabad High Court on Friday overturned the ECP’s decision and allowed the younger Gandapur to contest the election.
According to the unofficial results, Haroon Sift won the seat of chairman tehsil Pushtakhra and two independent candidates won the seats of chairmen in tehsil Tehat Nasri and tehsil council Naugai.
As per the schedule of Election Commission of Pakistan, re-polling of the first phase of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local government elections were held in 13 districts including Charsadda, Nowshera, Khyber, Mohmand, Mardan, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Buner, Bajaur and Peshawar on Sunday.
As per the unofficial results, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl candidate Haji Zubair won the elections for Peshawar mayorship after securing a total of 63,418 votes. Rizwan Bangash of the ruling PTI finished as the runner-up with 51,395 votes.
However, the PTI candidate won the chairman seat of Tehsil Council Banda Daud Shah.
JUI’s Malik Mamoor Wazir won chairman seat of Baka Khel tehsil.
PTI’s Malik Israr has been elected as chairman of of Domail tehsil.
Tehreek-i-Islahat candidate Shah Khalid Shinwari won the chairman seat of tehsil Landi Kotal. He got 10,231 votes.
According to the unofficial results of four polling stations, PTI’s Anayat Ullah Khattak got 14,534 votes, while JUI-f candidate Khalid Khattak secured 12,956 votes.
JUI-F won the Tehsil Council Bara chairman seat.
According to unofficial results of Karak Tehsil’s 14 polling station, PTI candidate Azmat Khattak remained successful after bagging 3,578 votes.
As per the unofficial results of 188 polling stations of tehsil council Khar of district Bajaur, JUI-F candidate Syed Badshah won the seat. He secured 18,732 votes while his runner-up JI candidate Sahibzada Haroonur Rashid obtained 18,038 votes.
An independent candidate Shahid Bala won Kohat’s tehsil chairman seat, Darra Adam Khel after getting 2279 votes.
An independent candidate Shafqat Ullah who actually belongs to Saif Ullah brothers and Hisham Inamullah Khan group won the chairman seat of tehsil Lakki Marwat.
JI candidate Aziz Ullah Khan who got backing of Saif Ullah brothers and Hisham Inamullah Khan group won the seat of District Amir of Lakki Marwat after securing 18,031 votes.
