An auction of "Mark Choice" (or personalised) number plates was held in Peshawar with remarkable public enthusiasm, as bidders compete fiercely for unique and identity-based registration numbers, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to the latest details, the “Waziristan 1” number plate emerged as the most expensive lot, selling for a record-breaking Rs40.6 million.
The winning bid was placed by Faizur Rehman, setting the highest benchmark in the auction.
Intense competition was also witnessed for the “Mohmand 1” plate, which was sold for Rs32.1 million to Haji Zahir Gul.
Meanwhile, “Pakhtun 1” attracted the third-highest bid, fetching Rs13.2 million.
The charged atmosphere at the Arena Hall, where the auction is being held, reflects buyers’ strong willingness to spend substantial sums on distinctive and culturally significant number plates.
Bidding for several other premium plates continues, with expectations of further record-setting offers in the coming rounds.
