India skipper Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday urged fans to “wait 24 hours for the handshake” ahead of the high-voltage ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash against Pakistan, stressing that his team is focused on playing positive cricket.
Addressing the pre-match press conference in Colombo, Yadav described the contest as “just a game,” adding that India regularly faces competitive opponents and will aim to deliver its best performance against Pakistan.
“We have come to play positive cricket and will focus on executing our plans under pressure,” he said.
On the customary pre-match handshake, Yadav declined to provide a definitive answer, saying fans should wait until match day to see what happens.
Addressing Pakistan’s bowling attack, he highlighted mystery spinner Usman Tariq as a unique challenge but insisted India has prepared strategies to counter the spin threat.
He also acknowledged Pakistan’s strong form, noting their good performances in the Asia Cup and consistent competitiveness.
“Pakistan-India matches always carry intense pressure.
Players must stay calm to perform at their best,” Yadav added.
