The Lahore High Court (LHC) Saturday allowed Syed Riffat Mahmood to contest the elections from NA-60 and PP-24, Jhelum, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

The petitioner had challenged the decisions of the returning officer as well as the election appellate tribunal to reject his nomination papers from the constituency NA 60 and PP 24 Jhelum.

The Election Commission of Pakistan, the Election Appellate Tribunal, and others were made parties in the petitions.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi of Lahore High Court heard the appeal of Syed Riffat Mahmood.

The bench set aside the decision of the election tribunal and allowed the PTI leader to contest the election.

Abuzar Salman Khan Niazi Advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
