Former caretaker federal minister and Chairman of Economic Policy and Business Development Gohar Ejaz, has said that the subsidy policy of the current government has failed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement on “X” posted on Wednesday, Gohar Ejaz said that subsidies are the responsibility of the government.
Gohar Ejaz said that making industry uncompetitive by making them cross-subsidise other consumers is not a solution but a clear policy failure.
He said, “We are losing export orders to regional competitors solely due to high energy prices. Regional energy prices are at 9 cents, while we are at 12 cents or more. How can the industry compete in world markets?
