For the first time in the history of Pakistan, there will be a US-style prison complex to be constructed in the city of Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
For this initiative, jail structures of various prominent countries will be examined so that the foundation of the jail complex in Lahore can be laid out in a proper and modern manner.
According to reports, working has been started upon installing cameras in the jail complex so that monitoring can be carried out efficiently.
Furthermore, the jail complex will have the capacity to hold 1,500 male, 200 minors and 300 women prisoners.
In order to construct a modern jail facility, prison officials were taken to America and were given a tour of various American prison complexes and it was further revealed that categorised cells will be constructed inside the prison complex in accordance with the prisoners’ nature of the crime.
Two meetings have been conducted to finalize the prison complex’s construction plan.
