Teachers end the protest after getting assurance from the caretaker information minister to resolve their issue after returning the Chief Secretary from abroad.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Subject Specialist Teachers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held protest rallies for their upgradation and increase in salaries in Peshawar for the last two days.
Peshawar police attacked with tear gas shelling on the peaceful teachers and beaten them charged too. On Thursday, the police also arrested around 15 teachers and held them in a school at GT Road.
Later, the caretaker minister for information of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) held successful negotiations with the teachers' representatives led by SST President Zulfiqar Khan who announced to postpone the protest till the next session of talks on Tuesday.
In the meeting between SST representatives and the provincial caretaker government on Thursday, the information minister assured the protesting teachers that their problems will be addressed after the return of the Chief Secretary who is on a foreign tour nowadays.
The information minister also announced that all arrested teachers will be released tonight.
SS Teachers President Zulfiqar Khan said that the teachers were not allowed to record the protest even on the roadside which was the worst example of bad governance.
