Utility Stores Corporation Thursday prepared to buy expensive sugar under the Prime Minister’s package as they had recently rejected the tender for Rs122 per Kg of sugar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the details, the corporation planned to buy sugar at Rs130/Kg as there is no other option to make it available to the public.

However, a final decision has not yet been made about buying sugar.

JDW Sugar Mills gave a tender of Rs130 per Kg for 10 thousand metric tons.

Reportedly, the Utility Stores Corporation has gone out of stock of sugar and the citizens are forced to pay more money for it. The Federation is paying a heavy subsidy on sugar under the PM package.

The authorities have set the rate of sugar for Benazir Income Support Program beneficiaries at Rs70 per kg and at Rs91 per kg for other citizens.
