A jawan of Pakistan Rangers was martyred in an attack by the armed groups of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Rawalakot on Tuesday while on the other hand, the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has decided to further tighten the screws around the workers of the JAAC, a banned organization, as it has cancelled the notification issued for the withdrawal of cases against them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The casualty was reported when armed groups of the JAAC carried out attacks on security forces in Rawalakot.

When the police retaliated, these groups used automatic weapons and explosives to target the Force, forcing the Rangers to come to the rescue of embattled police.

It has also been learnt that the AJK Police have resumed working on cases registered against the JAAC leaders and workers and are conducting raids to arrest those involved in damaging public property, acts of arson, vandalism and attacks on law-enforcement agencies’ personnel.

Zaheer, a close associate of JAAC leader Mehran, and five others have been taken into custody.
