Two new e-passport printers and six desktop printers from Germany have arrived in Karachi to stremline passport issuance process for Pakistani citizens, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Director-General Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi visited e-printers section after arrival of these printers. A foreign technical team which also reached Pakistan for installation of these printers briefed about installations process.
On the occasion Director-General Passports said that these printers have capacity to print 1,000 passports during one hour.
DG Mustafa Jamal Qazi said that that after installations the process of issuing passport will be more strengthened. He said that best passport services being provided to the people around the world.
Last year, 10 new, modern passport printers has been completed, resulting in a doubling of the Passport Department’s printing capacity.
The delays in passport issuance for those traveling abroad have been addressed.
Officials from the Passport and Immigration Department reported that the introduction of 10 new printers has increased production capacity to 40,000 passports daily, up from the previous capacity of 20,000.
