The Punjab Assembly on Friday passed the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2025.
Also, the Punjab Assembly passed the Punjab Forensic Science Authority Bill 2025. Responding to the development, lawmaker Imtiaz Sheikh said the government used to make companies in the past and now it is making authorities. He said the government is creating a new authority every day despite the fact that 15 authorities have already been created. He said the government is fond of creating authorities. He said that police is already corrupt and now the country is second in the ranking of the most corrupt countries in the world.
Sheikh said that forensic laboratories should be independent; they should be free of the influence of the police or any other department. He said that authorities are in violation of the basic human rights. He urged the government let the Punjab Forensic Science Authority work independently. He said that authorities would be used to torture innocent people.
In a related development, the Punjab Assembly also passed the Punjab Public-Private Partnership Bill 2025. Punjab Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman presented the aforementioned bills.
The opposition rejected amendments to all the aforementioned bills.
Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority Bill 2025
The Punjab Assembly passed the Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority Bill 2025 and dissolved the Model Bazaar Management Company. A director general will head the authority and a chairman and some members will take care of governance-related issues. The authority will organize all Sahulat Bazaars across Punjab and their scope would be expanded to every part of the province.
Jaffar Express Terror Attack
The Punjab Assembly unanimously passed a resolution, condemning the terrorist attack on Jaffar Express in the Bolan area of Balocistan this week. The resolution was presented by the ruling party lawmaker Uzma Kardar. The resolution said the nation stands behind its institutions. It said that Pakistan is the nation’s “red line” and the nation will protect it till its last breath. It praised the security forces for the successful operation against the militants and offered condolences to the families of the martyrs.
After completion of the agenda on Friday, Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Zaheer Iqbal Channar prorogued the session for an indefinite period.
