The trailer for Brad Pitt’s upcoming movie F1 is out and is high on adrenaline.
Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton is a co-producer of the movie, in addition to making an appearance in the film.
The Ferrari driver, who worked closely with Pitt and the entire team to realise their dream of making a film on F1, is full of praise for the 61-year-old actor for mastering his driving skills on an F1 track.
Hamilton is ready to race for Ferrari for the first time in the F1 season opener, the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
A report cited Hamilton as saying: “Watching Brad drive around at speeds over 180 miles an hour was really impressive to see because it’s not something you can just learn overnight.”
“The dedication and the focus that Brad put into this process has been amazing to witness,” he added.
Hamilton was instrumental in training Pitt and Damson Idris to make F1 filming a safe experience.
Pitt plays a car racer, Sonny Hayes, in the film. Hayes lives in a van due to his gambling habits after retiring from F1 following an accident decades earlier. He is tasked with mentoring an F1 rookie, Joshua "Noah" Pearce (Damson Idris), which gives him a new lease on life.
The movie is directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame. F1 also stars Javier Bardem as Hayes’ old teammate and the team owner who sees the last ray of hope in Hayes to revive the team. Among the extended cast are Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia and Shea Whigham.
All the F1 drivers who participated in the 2023 season also feature in the film as themselves, including Hamilton.
In a chat with Time magazine, director Kosinski revealed how Hamilton “gave Brad the scare of a lifetime in a lap” when he took the actor around an F1 track. Kosinski said Brad was literally “clawing at the windows, begging to get out.” F1 will have its worldwide release in theaters on June 25. It will be released in the US two days later.
