It has been decided to increase fines for traffic violations manifold, 900 percent, on Lahore’s Ring Road as well, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to the authorities concerned, a proposal to increase fine for overspeeding from Rs500 to Rs5,000 is under consideration.
In this regard, a summary has been sent to the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to increase the fines on Ring Road violations.
Approval was also given to establish a modern command-and-control center on Lahore’s Ring Road.
Security and traffic monitoring of Ring Road will be further tightened.
The modern command-and-control center will be managed by the Ring Road Authority.
More than 150,000 vehicles will be monitored daily from the command-and-control center.
A strict crackdown will be carried out against overspeeding vehicles on Ring Road.
Speeding and traffic violations will be monitored with modern cameras equipped with AI.
The command-and-control project will be completed in four months at a cost of Rs871 million.
