Two more Army soldiers succumbed to their injuries lifting the military’s death toll in the war with India to 13, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a statement issued by the ISPR in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, two more soldiers injured in the blatant and cowardly Indian attacks on the night between May 6 and 7 have embraced martyrdom, taking the death toll to 13.
The ISPR said Indian Armed Forces’ aggression which was launched on the night of 6-7 May 2025, targeted innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.
While defending the motherland with exemplary courage and unwavering resolve, two more valiant sons of the soil embraced shahadat today who were hospitalised, bringing the total number of martyred personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces to 13 while 78 have sustained injuries in the line of duty.
The martyred heroes were Havaldar Muhammad Naveed Shaheed of the Pakistan Army and Senior Technician Muhammad Ayaz Shaheed of the Pakistan Air Force. Their noble sacrifice stands as a timeless testament to their courage, devotion to duty, and unshakeable patriotism.
The Pakistan Armed Forces, in unity with the people of Pakistan, pay the highest tribute to these brave martyrs and extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Prayers are also offered for the swift and complete recovery of all those injured in the attack.
Their sacrifice will forever remain etched in the nation’s collective memory, inspiring generations to come, the ISPR statement said.
On Tuesday, Pakistan Army had announced the death toll from the fighting with India, saying India's "unprovoked and reprehensible dastardly attacks" killed 40 civilians, including seven women and 15 children, and 11 military service members, six belonged to Pakistan Army and five to Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
India has said that 15 civilians and five soldiers died.
Despite mutual claims on initial violations, the ceasefire still appeared to be holding on Wednesday.
Pakistan and India exchange prisoners of war
Pakistan and India on Wednesday exchanged prisoners from the recent war between the two countries, which saw Pakistan armed forces destroying multiple targets deep in India, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The exchange of prisoners of war took place at the Attari-Wagah Border Post, where both sides handed over one soldier each.
As per security sources, Pakistan handed over Pernam Kumar Shaw of the Indian Border Security, while India handed over Muhammadullah to Pakistan. Muhammadullah belongs to the Pakistan Rangers.
Pakistan handed over the Indian border guard captured a day after an April attack in Indian-occupied which killed 26 people, the Indian army said.
In a post on X platform, Indian army said Border Security Force soldier "Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since 23 April 2025, was handed over to India."
The handover was "conducted peacefully and in accordance with established protocols," the BSF said.
Purnam Kumar Shaw's wife Rajani had earlier told the Indian Express newspaper that she was confident he would come back. "I had lost all hope," Rajani Shaw, who is pregnant, said. "But after the ceasefire, I became a bit positive, and I have full faith in God that my husband will return safely."
