Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore organized a pre-conference workshop in association with Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan (OSP) Lahore in connection with MEDCONG2026.
The workshop was titled “Modern Management of Glaucoma”, and was held at Sardar Trust Eye Hospital, Main Canal Road, Lahore. The program included sessions on medical, surgical and laser management as well as an interactive session, in which young doctors were taught important points about the practical management of cataract.
The objective of this training workshop was to familiarize young ophthalmologists and postgraduate residents with modern diagnosis and treatment methods of glaucoma. The focal person of the event was Professor Chaudhry Javed Iqbal.
Dr Izhar Ahmed Chaudhry attended as the chief guest and other distinguished guests included Prof. Muhammad Moin Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Raza Ali Shah, Prof. Atif Mansoor, Prof. M. Ali A. Sadiq, Director Sardar Trust Eye Hospital, Prof. Mian Muhammad Shafiq, Prof. Mian Arshad Mahmood, Dr. Irfan Karamat, Dr. Arshad Humayun, Dr. Arshad Hussain, Dr. Shahid Shahab, Fahman Shahzad, Admin Manager, Dr. Irfan Ali, Consultant Eye Surgeon and doctors from various hospitals and members of PMA Lahore specially attended this workshop in large numbers.
Prof. Chaudhry Javed Iqbal spoke about the burden of vision loss due to cataract in Pakistan and emphasized how PMA can play a proactive role in reducing this burden. He also provided detailed awareness regarding the use of laser in the treatment of glaucoma and its practical management.
Professor Atif Mansoor briefed the participants about the latest research and new drugs in the medical management of glaucoma.
Professor Syed Raza Ali Shah gave a detailed talk on the latest innovations in the field of glaucoma surgery and modern surgical methods.
Professor Javed Chaudhry provided detailed guidance to the young doctors in the interactive session on the practical treatment of glaucoma and prevention of blindness according to the objective conditions of Pakistan.
Dr. Izhar Ahmed Chaudhry (President PMA Center) in his address as the chief guest emphasized the importance of continuous educational training of the medical community and such workshops, so that the patients can get the best treatment facilities.
