Wife of late film star Waheed Murad passes away after prolonged illness

Salma Murad, the wife of the renowned "Chocolate Hero" of the Pakistan film industry, Waheed Murad, peacefully passed away after a prolonged illness, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.  

Her departure marks a significant moment in the history of Pakistani cinema. Her funeral prayer has been scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) following the Asr prayer at Yasrib Imambargah, Defense Phase 4, Lahore.

She is survived by her one son, the actor Adil Murad, and her daughter, Alia Murad.

The loss comes nearly four decades after her husband's passing in November 1983.

Presently, her son, Adil Murad, is away from the country but is expected to return to Pakistan tomorrow to pay his final respects.

Salma Murad's enduring contributions to the arts and culture were celebrated by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi. President Muhammad Ahmad Shah expressed his condolences and shared his memories of Salma Murad, stating that she had been ill for many years.

Salma Murad had been an esteemed and longstanding member of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi. Her sophistication and literary acumen were evident in her active involvement in the artistic and literary communities.

President Muhammad Ahmad Shah extended his heartfelt condolences to Salma Murad's family, saying, "I and the governing body of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi are with them in this hour of grief."
