The Punjab government has decided to completely digitalize toll plazas in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The decision was taken at a special meeting held in Lahore with the provincial chief minister Maryam Nawaz in the chair.
It was also decided at the meeting that on the pattern of motorways, one app, one system will be introduced at 38 electronic toll plazas of the province.
The meeting approved the construction and repair of five major roads under the public-private partnership.
The chief minister, on the occasion, ordered the installation of solar lights at all newly built roads.
She also approved beautification projects for Lahore under which Misri Shah, railway station, Data Darbar, Aik Morya Pull and Dau Morya pull would be beautified.
Roads and footpaths would be built within three kilometers of the railway station.
Similarly, the meeting decided that a fountain would be installed in the park in front of the railway station, while children would take a ride on a mini train.
The meeting was briefed that 858 roads, 54 bridges and 142 flyovers, which had been affected during floods, had been repaired.
It was also told that 93-kilometer-long Multan to Vehari road would be made Punjab’s first dust-free road.
The project would be completed by June 2026, it was informed.
Likewise, it was briefed that work on the Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wahga Tourism corridor would also be completed by June next year.
The meeting was told that the construction and repair of all roads in Murree had been completed, while most of projects of the road construction and repair in Chakwal and Sahiwal had also been completed.
Similarly, the construction and repair of 10,000 kilometers long roads under the chief minister’s initiative were in its final stages.
