The federal government has decided to temporarily deploy the Islamabad Police in Kashmir following a formal request from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to official sources, as many as 2,000 officers and personnel will be sent on duty to assist in maintaining law and order.
The deployment will include officers of various ranks, including SPs, DSPs, and lower cadres.
In this regard, the names of selected officials and personnel have been sought.
Inspector General (IG) Islamabad has directed all zones of the federal capital police to provide a complete list of officers and staff for the upcoming assignment.
Sources confirmed that all officers and personnel will be deputed in Kashmir strictly temporarily.
The move is being viewed as part of broader coordination efforts between law enforcement agencies to strengthen security arrangements in the region.
