The Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday acquitted three men who were earlier sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Tahir Hameed Qureshi, giving them the benefit of the doubt, 24NewsHD TV reported.
The acquitted men include Muhammad Haris, Laraib Shahzad and Ali Raza. They were earlier convicted by an additional sessions court in Multan in a robbery-cum-murder case.
The trial court had sentenced all three accused to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs200,000 each.
The suspects had remained behind bars since 2022 following the registration of FIR No. 990/22 at the relevant police station.
The accused were charged under Sections 302 and 392 of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to murder and robbery.
After hearing the appeals, Justice Tariq Nadeem acquitted all three accused, giving them the benefit of the doubt.
