Federal Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb held a detailed meeting with the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Dan Katz, and United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and discussed with them the ongoing IMF programme.
He said that the IMF board will approve the next instalment of the loan to Pakistan soon. On this occasion, Mohammad Aurangzeb gave a detailed briefing to the IMF's first deputy MD about the Gulf conflict's effects on Pakistan’s economy.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, he shed light on Pakistan’s energy and logistics purchase and presented the government implementation plan.
The Federal Finance Minister informed the IMF MD about inflation, economic progress, exports, and remittances.
Mohammad Aurangzeb also appreciated the upcoming visit of the IMF mission regarding the preparation of the next budget, including taxes.
Later, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with Howard Lutnick, Secretary of the United States Department of Commerce, during his visit to the World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings 2026 in Washington, D.C.
The two sides held discussions that also covered cooperation in key sectors, including mining, energy, and information technology, with an emphasis on unlocking new opportunities for mutually beneficial economic collaboration.
