The Government of Punjab has decided to launch Phase II of the “Magnificent Punjab Tourism Internship Program,” aiming to expand opportunities for young people while boosting the province’s tourism sector.

According to official details, 2,000 interns will be inducted under the second phase of the programme. The intake will be divided into four batches of 500 interns each, ensuring structured training and gradual deployment across various tourism-related projects.

The government has proposed a financial outlay of Rs360 million for stipends to be paid to the interns. In addition, Rs80 million has been earmarked for the procurement of IT equipment and software to support digital learning and operational needs.

A further Rs40 million has been allocated for services and practical training, with authorities emphasizing hands-on experience to equip participants with industry-relevant skills.

Officials said the initiative is designed to promote tourism in Punjab while simultaneously creating employment opportunities for the youth. The programme is also expected to enhance professional capacity in areas such as hospitality, cultural promotion, and digital tourism management.

In the first phase of the programme, 1,000 interns were successfully inducted, laying the groundwork for the expanded second phase.
