Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Umar Ata Bandial has directed the Election Commission of Pakistan to complete the process of delimitations of constituencies in a transparent manner, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A two-judge bench headed by CJP Bandial on Tuesday heard a case against three provincial constituencies of Shikarpur district of Sindh. The court referred the matter related to the constituencies back to the Election Commission.

Chief Justice Bandial inquired that when is the Election Commission conducting the general elections? On which the Election Commission’s DG Law shrugged his shoulders.

The CJP smilingly remarked that it means no date for the elections has been decided yet.

The Chief Justice observed, “Delimitation of the constituencies are a matter of public interest. The issue of constituencies’ delimitation has come up in the Supreme Court several times. In the constituencies, affecting the dotted circle even slightly affects the votes for the candidate from the constituency. The Election Commission should conduct delimitation of constituencies in a transparent manner.”

CJP Bandial further remarked that sensitivity is high in constituencies in Sindh. It is often heard from Sindh that the delimitation of the constituencies has not been fair. The Election Commission should resolve all issues before the elections, the top judge directed.

The demarcation of provincial constituencies PS 7, PS 8 and PS 9 in Shikarpur in Sindh were challenged in the Supreme Court.
