A fire that broke out at the Old Lari Adda Model Bazaar in Kasur on Saturday was brought under control after nearly three hours of intensive firefighting, said Rescue 1122 officials, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The blaze triggered panic in the market, with a large number of citizens gathering at the scene as thick smoke and flames spread through the affected area.
Rescue 1122 deployed four firefighting teams to tackle the emergency. Three fire snorkels were also used as part of the operation to contain the flames and prevent the fire from reaching nearby shops and other areas of the market.
Rescue personnel continued their efforts without interruption and successfully stopped the fire from spreading further. After the flames were extinguished, teams immediately began cooling the affected area to reduce the risk of the fire starting again.
Rescue officials said their personnel would remain at the site until the cooling operation was completed and the area was declared safe.
The cause of the fire and the extent of financial losses were not immediately known.
