The process of appointment of Pakistan Halal Authority head was temporarily stopped on Saturday after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) barred the appointment of the Authority DG until August 17, and issued notices to the federal government, Ministry of Science and Technology and secretary Establishment Division, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The vacancy had been advertised on August 9.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro granted a ‘stay’ on the petition filed by Akhtar Ahmad Bughyo.
Speaking on the occasion, counsel for the petitioner said that his client had been made the Authority DG on April 10, 2020 on a regular basis, and as per regulations, appointment can be made on this post only on a regular basis.
He went on to say that the Board had recommended making the petitioner regular, and the federal government had not refused to do so as yet.
The court later adjourned the case’s hearing until August 17.
