In order to challenge the acquittal of alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky in three cases of narcotics supply, the prosecution on Saturday submitted an application for the provision of certified copies of these decisions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources in the prosecution told the 24News TV channel that Pinky’s acquittal was beyond comprehension since neither she was indicted nor was the statement of any witness was recorded.
On Thursday, a sessions court in Karachi acquitted alleged drug baroness Pinky in three narcotics cases registered at Karachi’s Gizri police station.
The three cases were registered against Pinky at the Gizri police station in 2020, 2021 and 2022, following which she had been declared an absconder.
Additional District and Sessions Judge South Irshad Hussain heard Pinky’s pleas seeking acquittal.
During the hearing, her counsel contended that she had been named in the cases on the basis of statements made by the co-accused, who had subsequently been acquitted.
“Following the acquittal of the co-accused, there can be no case for conviction for the accused (Pinky),” the lawyer said.
Anmol was arrested on May 12, 2026 during a joint operation by Karachi police and a federal intelligence agency in the Garden area.
Police claimed that approximately 1.5kg of cocaine, a 9mm pistol and chemicals, allegedly used in cocaine production, were recovered during the operation.
Authorities subsequently linked her to several other cases registered in Karachi and Lahore. The number of cases cited by police and investigators has varied at different stages, while a CTD interim challan submitted in July listed 21 cases.
Police have accused Anmol of drug trafficking and allegedly running an organized drug network.
The allegations include offences under narcotics and weapons laws, as well as attempted murder and murder.
The allegations remain subject to judicial proceedings.
Pinky continues to face several other cases despite her acquittal in Gizri drug cases.
