A special meeting was held Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi to review the progress of the Green Hydrogen Project as an alternative energy source in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Chief Minister gave in-principle approval to the project and directed the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan for its implementation.
The Secretary Energy briefed the meeting about the details and benefits of the Green Hydrogen Project, which aims to produce hydrogen from water using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.
He said that green hydrogen is environmentally friendly and the best alternative energy for the future. He said that the project would save 38 million dollars in foreign exchange and create job opportunities for 8 to 10 thousand people.
He also informed the meeting about the global trends and developments in the field of hydrogen energy, such as its use in buses and trains in India, ships in Korea, and various projects in United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and China.
The Chief Minister appreciated the initiative and said that Punjab is taking a lead role in promoting green energy in the country. He said that the use of hydrogen as an alternative energy is inevitable in the future and Punjab will be ready to meet the challenges and opportunities.
He said that he will personally monitor the progress of the project and ensure its timely completion.
He also directed the relevant departments to provide land and water supply for the first green hydrogen project in Punjab.
The meeting was also attended by Provincial Minister SM Tanveer, Chairman P&D, Secretary Finance and other relevant officials.
