Authorities have taken timely and precautionary measures to safeguard travellers as dense fog continues to affect visibility across major highways. According to Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson for the Motorway Police, several motorways have been temporarily closed to protect lives and property.

The Motorway M3 has been closed from Darkhana to Rajana due to poor visibility caused by fog. Similarly, traffic on Motorway M4 between Gojra and Multan, and Motorway M5 from Multan to Zahir Peer, has been suspended until conditions improve.

The spokesperson emphasized that these closures are a proactive step aimed at preventing accidents during hazardous weather conditions. He warned that lane violations in fog can lead to serious and sometimes fatal accidents, urging road users to strictly follow lane discipline at all times.

Motorway Police have also advised citizens, especially urban residents, to prefer travelling during daylight hours. According to officials, the safest time to travel in foggy conditions is between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Drivers have been instructed to use fog lights mandatorily, avoid unnecessary travel, refrain from speeding, and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead.

The Motorway Police reaffirmed their commitment to public safety and urged commuters to cooperate with authorities. For real-time updates, guidance, or assistance, road users can contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130.
