Pakistan on Monday launched its final polio vaccination campaign of the year 2025 as part of a nationwide effort to reach 45 million children, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) said that more than 23 million children in Punjab will be given polio drops.
In Sindh, more than 16 million children will be administered polio drops.
NEOC said that 7.2 million children will be administered polio drops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Balochistan, about 2.6 million children in Balochistan to be administered polio drops.
During the last anti-polio drive of 2025, over 460,000 children in Islamabad will be given polio drops. More than 228,000 children to be administered polio drops in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The NEOC further said that 760,000 children to be administered polio drops in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan has reported 30 polio cases so far this year. The incurable and highly infectious virus can cause lifelong paralysis and can only be prevented through repeated oral vaccinations and routine immunization,
The new campaign comes days after Pakistan conducted a nationwide measles, rubella, and polio vaccination drive from Nov. 17–29, which targeted 22.9 million children across 89 high-risk districts.
