Cabinet approves First Cloud Policy, Personal Data Protection Bill

Federal Minister for Information and Technology Syed Amin Ul Haque Tuesday said that the federal cabinet has approved the First Cloud Policy and Personal Data Protection Bill.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Personal Data Protection Bill will become an Act after approval by Parliament.

The IT Minister has said that the aim of the Bill is to ensure the privacy of online data of citizens, public and private institutions.

Amin said all relevant agencies will ensure compatibility of data, services and systems with cyber security and the Cloud policy will cover federal ministries, departments, and autonomous institutes.

He said that the data centres of federal ministries and departments will be moved in phases. He said the governments of the developed countries are also getting Cloud services for the public data.

The minister said that after approval, Cloud Board, Cloud Office, and Cloud Acquisition Office will be established under the IT Ministry.

The Cloud Board will consist of the Secretary IT Chairman, Chief Secretaries of the four provinces and two IT experts. , Aminul Haq said.
