Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Atta Bandial has stressed the need for joint efforts to cope with the challenges being faced by the country.
"The Supreme Court wants to see the people of Pakistan as a prosperous family," he said while addressing a conference on population control in the Supreme Court.
He said, “Through the two-day conference we will think together.”
He added: “The Supreme Court works for the provision of fundamental rights. The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees a free and prosperous life.
"As a judge, I don't just see right or wrong but the first priority is the protection of fundamental rights. Iran and Bangladesh focus on their resources.
"The problem is not population control but proper human resource management.
The top judge stressed: "We should not depend only on the government to solve the problems."
Bringing together all members of society to find solutions to problems is a must for progress.
He continued: “After four years of coming into being, Pakistan was competing with Germany and China.
"Today, the elite of society tells us in which direction we have to move.
"When I was a student, 200 vocational centres were along the way from Lahore to Peshawar. Where have these gone now?
"Now thousands of people apply for one job. In the 70s, workers were sent to the United Nations … Over time it all vanished because nothing special has been done for skills development."
