British High Commissioner (HC) in Pakistan Jane Marriott said on Tuesday that e-visas were now being issued to those planning to travel to the UK for education or job purposes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
She said that now most of Pakistani students and employees would not need visa stickers. “They will be able to see their immigration status online courtesy e-visa.”
E-visa, she added, was a safe, digital and a simple system. “This will make the issuance of visas to students and workers easier.”
She said already millions of people were benefitting from e-visas on different immigration routes. “E-visa scheme will not affect the immigration status,” Jane said, adding, “It will apply to those visa categories, which include students, skilled workers, sportsmen and others.”
The British HC, however, said that those who were dependents or going to the UK on a visit visa would still need sticker visas. “E-visas will apply to different visa categories gradually.”
