Balochistan’s political, military and law enforcement leadership reviewed the province’s security situation and ongoing counterterrorism operations at the 26th meeting of the Hardening of the State Conference on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Khan Bugti chaired the meeting in Quetta, which focused on militant threats, coordination between federal and provincial institutions and measures to strengthen peace and the state’s authority across the province.
The forum reviewed the joint Operation Shaban being carried out by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps Balochistan and police.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the operation’s progress and agreed that action against militant groups and their facilitators should continue with greater coordination and effectiveness.
The meeting also paid tribute to those killed in the Hanna-Urak and Mangi Dam attacks.
Participants said their sacrifices would not be forgotten and pledged to continue counterterrorism operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability in Balochistan.
Addressing the meeting, Bugti said terrorism was a national challenge requiring joint action by the country’s political and military leadership with public support.
He said those involved in militant violence and those assisting them would be brought to justice.
“There is no place for anti-state elements in Balochistan,” the chief minister said.
Bugti said the provincial government was also introducing governance reforms to improve the performance of state institutions and strengthen the delivery of public services.
He said the government was working in coordination with security forces not only to improve law and order but also to accelerate development projects, particularly in remote and underdeveloped areas.
The chief minister said sustainable peace and development were closely linked and that improving public services and economic opportunities was essential for long-term stability.
Representatives of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, Pakistan Coast Guards, police, Federal Investigation Agency, Customs and other federal and provincial institutions attended the meeting.
The participants agreed that all relevant agencies would continue working under a coordinated strategy to protect citizens, restore the state’s writ and maintain peace across Balochistan.
