At least five people, including a bus driver, were killed when two passenger buses bound for Lahore from Shakargarh collided on Kala Khatai Road on Tuesday, according to rescue officials and eyewitnesses.
The accident occurred when the two buses, which are operated from Sukhuchak and Dhodochak villages in Shakargarh, crashed into each other.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision took place after both buses, reportedly running at high speed, attempted to avoid hitting a motorcycle, causing the drivers to lose control.
Among those who lost their lives were Abrar Ali, son of Muhammad Sarwar, a resident of Shakargarh, Abdullah and Azim, both reported to be residents of Zafarwal. The identity of another deceased person could not immediately be confirmed.
Rescue teams and local authorities reached the scene shortly after the accident and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital. Further investigation into the cause of the crash is under way.
