The federal government has approved major reforms to Pakistan's Umrah system, introducing new rules aimed at making Umrah arrangements more transparent, organised and effective.
According to an official notification, only companies certified by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony will be authorised to organise Umrah services under the new framework.
The revised Umrah rules have been formally notified following approval by the federal cabinet. The government said the reforms are intended to improve regulation, enhance oversight and ensure better services for pilgrims.
Under the new regulations, all administrative, regulatory and supervisory matters relating to Umrah operations will fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
Officials said the new system is expected to streamline Umrah arrangements, strengthen accountability among service providers and safeguard the interests of intending pilgrims through a more structured and transparent process.
