Pakistani actor and filmmaker Shamoon Abbasi speaks about drawback of Pakistani content and why Netflix has not widely acquired Pakistani content.
He claimed the country's productions were still struggling to meet the streaming giant's technical and quality standards.
Speaking about the issue, Shamoon said Netflix has its own quality benchmark and Pakistan is yet to fully match it.
He also dismissed the idea that the launch of a local OTT platform alone could solve the problem.
The actor pointed to technical gaps in Pakistani productions, including HDR workflows, colour grading, colour science and sound mixing.
He said these areas need major improvement if local content is to compete with international productions.
Shamoon also recalled his experience of dealing with Netflix aggregators in 2017.
Samoon explained that he was given a detailed list of technical requirements for content to qualify for the platform.
He further revealed that a Pakistani drama commissioned by Netflix nearly four years ago has still not been released as the platform continues to demand that the production meet its required technical standards.
