Paris Jackson has addressed backlash from fans upset over her upcoming performance on June 25, the 16th anniversary of her father Michael Jackson’s death.
According to a report, she made it clear she won’t apologize for continuing her music career on that day.
The 27-year-old singer and daughter of the late King of Pop responded to the criticism through now-expired Instagram stories, where she explained that her tour schedule with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra is not in her control.
“So people are mad again,” she said in the video shared to her five million followers.
“One of the dates I'm supposed to be going out on tour happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me and my family… But when you're not headlining these shows, you don't pick what date you perform.”
Paris, who described her setup as humble, emphasised that she volunteered for the tour and won’t back out over fan expectations.
“So I’m gonna tell 'em, ‘Sorry, guys, we can't perform on this date?’ F*** you,” she said bluntly.
Critics were quick to question her commitment to her father’s legacy, but Paris reposted a powerful fan message reminding others not to judge someone’s grief.
“June 25 may intensify our pain as fans, but she lives with the loss of her father daily,” the post read. Paris responded with a simple, “thx fam.”
The performance in Nashville, Tennessee, comes as part of Incubus’ Morning View + The Hits tour, which was announced in March and will continue across the US and UK.
While Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, Paris largely kept her grief private, speaking selectively about her famous father and navigating the spotlight on her own terms.
