Another case of monkeypox has been reported in the port city, raising the total number of confirmed cases in Karachi to 11, according to hospital and administration officials.
The latest patient is a 26-year-old man from the Defence area of Karachi, who has been confirmed positive for monkeypox after medical testing. Hospital administration said the diagnosis was confirmed through a PCR test.
According to officials, the patient had been admitted to the isolation ward of Nipa Hospital two days ago after showing symptoms. He is currently being treated under strict medical supervision.
Hospital authorities stated that a total of nine monkeypox cases have been reported at Nipa Hospital alone, indicating a growing number of infections being monitored at the facility.
Health officials have confirmed that the overall number of monkeypox cases reported in Karachi has now reached 11. They added that contact tracing and preventive measures are being carried out to control further spread of the disease.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and follow health guidelines while monitoring the situation closely.
