The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a public holiday across the province on the occasion of 1st Muharram 1448 AH.
According to an official announcement, all government offices and public sector institutions throughout the province will remain closed on 1st Muharram to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year.
The provincial government clarified that the implementation of the holiday will be subject to the official announcement of the sighting of the Muharram moon by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is currently meeting to determine the sighting of the moon, and its decision will confirm the date of 1st Muharram and the commencement of the new Hijri year in Pakistan.
Authorities have directed all relevant departments to make necessary arrangements in accordance with the official moon-sighting announcement.
