Distribution of free textbooks has been started in Lahore before the start of the new academic year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to spokesperson of Education Department, free textbooks will be distributed among 600,000 children in Lahore.
Spokesperson said warehouses have been built in five tehsils of the city for the distribution of books. Warehouses have been built in Raiwind, City, Shalimar, Model Town and Wagah Town.
As many as 380,000 books will be distributed in Model Town tehsil and so far, 150,000 books have been distributed in Model Town tehsil.
The work of distributing books is going on in a transparent manner and provision of free textbooks is a good initiative of the Punjab government.
On the instructions of CEO Education, free books will be provided to all children before the new academic year.
On the other hand, from next year, the board examination of the eighth grade will also be held under education board.
The examination of the children will be conducted in another school instead of the concerned school and the invigilator for the board exam will also be taken from another school.
The papers of the children in the board exam will also be checked by teachers from other schools.
