People are likely to get relief in power tariff as the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has make a request for a reduction of 30 paisa per unit in power tariffs, sources revealed.

According to the insiders, the February adjustment request has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra). The regulatory body will consider the matter on March 26.

However, the CPPA’s proposed adjustment will not apply to K-Electric consumers, the sources added.

This potential reduction would mark the eighth consecutive decrease in electricity prices under NEPRA's monthly adjustment mechanism. Nepra had already slashed electricity rates seven times in a row, with a reduction of Rs2.12 per unit for January's adjustment.
