Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned Head of May 9 Joint Investigation Team (JIT) DIG Admin Lahore Imran Kishwar, who had resigned from the police service on Thursday, for a meeting on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Sources told 24News TV channel that meanwhile, Punjab IGP Dr. Usman Anwar and CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana were trying to convince Kishwar to change his mind and withdraw his resignation.

The IGP, they added, held over two-hour-long meeting with him and tried to persuade him to take his resignation back, but in vain.

Similarly, sources informed, the CCPO too had a meeting with him that lasted an hour in which he urged him to revisit his decision, but failed to convince him.

In his resignation, DIG Admin Lahore, he described his conscience weighed down by the stark realities of service.

Imran Kishwar said, “I have upheld my oath with unyielding resolve, often at great personal cost, which has left me grappling with many unanswered questions, creating the unsettling internal dissonance”.

He said “I find myself at a crossroads where my continued service is neither feasible nor desirable. The reasons, though mine alone, are potent enough to sever the bond I once held sacred. Loyalty, when met with indifference or betrayal, ceases to be an obligation”.

Kishwar, who previously led the now-dissolved Organised Crime Unit (OCU), had also served in key positions, including SSP Investigation Lahore and DIG Investigation Lahore, as well as commanding roles in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Narowal, and Muzaffargarh.
