The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested Jahanzeb, the husband of stage actress Deedar, in connection with an alleged human trafficking and overseas recruitment scam, officials said.
According to sources, the arrest was made during a joint operation conducted by FIA teams from Islamabad and Lahore. The operation was led by Inspector Abdullah Kiani.
Sources said the FIA team faced strong resistance during the raid as eight guards reportedly attempted to prevent the arrest of the suspect. Following the resistance, assistance was sought from the Punjab Police.
Officials said the FIA eventually succeeded in arresting the accused, who was later shifted from Lahore to Islamabad for further investigation.
According to the FIA, the suspect was wanted by the agency’s Islamabad zone and is accused of defrauding thousands of people by promising overseas recruitment and employment opportunities.
Investigators said the accused had previously established an office in Sector G-11, Islamabad, from where the alleged scam was being operated. After fleeing the capital, he reportedly continued the same activities in Lahore.
Sources further claimed that stage actress Deedar was also allegedly involved in the business with her husband.
Officials said further investigations are underway and important revelations are expected as the inquiry progresses. Sources added that some citizens had also submitted petitions to the Army Chief seeking action in the matter.
