Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has officially began filming the much-anticipated Golmaal 5, delighting fans with a behind-the-scenes glimpse and two major surprises, the return of Sharman Joshi and the entry of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar.
The announcement came via a special video shared by Shetty on March 14, coinciding with his birthday. The clip featured Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu, Shreyas Talpade, and Tusshar Kapoor, with the actors humorously hinting at the new additions. In a playful moment, Sharman Joshi reappeared as Laxman Sharma, marking his comeback to the franchise after nearly two decades since the original Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006).
Fans were further thrilled by Akshay Kumar’s appearance in a bold bald look with a beard, reportedly playing the antagonist in the film. In the video, Kumar shared a fun interaction with Devgn, even singing the Golmaal title track on set, adding to the excitement.
Shetty reflected on the journey of the comedy franchise in his social media post:
"20 years ago, the first Golmaal was released, a film that changed my life. The credit goes to you, my audience.
