Price of kerosene raised from Rs318.81 to Rs358.01 per litre: OGRA issues official notification for the latest increase: Consumers already reeling from earlier hike earlier this month
The federal government has increased the price of kerosene oil by Rs39.20 per litre, further adding to inflationary pressures on consumers, particularly the poor and middle class, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the new price of kerosene oil has been fixed at Rs358.01 per litre.
Earlier, kerosene oil was being sold at Rs318.81 per litre.
It is pertinent to mention that just a week earlier, on March 7, the government had already increased the price of kerosene by Rs130 per litre, raising the rate to Rs318.81 per litre.
The latest increase has sparked concerns among consumers as fuel prices continue to rise amid inflationary pressures.
According to a report aired by 24NewsHD TV, the successive hikes are making daily life increasingly difficult for low-income households, as rising energy costs stretch household budgets.
Earlier, the government also raised petrol prices significantly, adding to the overall burden on consumers.
Officials have confirmed that a petroleum levy of Rs20.36 per litre is also being imposed on kerosene oil.
The latest wave of price increases comes at a time when many households are already struggling with rising living costs and inflation.
