The administration of US President Donald Trump has rejected ongoing efforts aimed at initiating ceasefire negotiations with Iran amid rising tensions in the Middle East, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to an international news agency, several American allied countries in the region had been attempting to mediate and push for a ceasefire to prevent further escalation.
However, Washington, D.C. has reportedly declined to accept such efforts for the time being.
The report said Tehran has also taken a firm stance, declaring that no ceasefire talks can take place until both the United States and Israel halt their attacks.
A senior official at the White House said President Trump is currently not interested in entering ceasefire negotiations.
According to the official, the US president’s immediate focus is on continuing the ongoing mission rather than pursuing diplomatic talks for a truce.
